C-SASI offers educational programs, training, and certification for those currently working in the sex addiction/partner trauma field or for those who want to become better equipped to give support to individuals and communities affected by these issues.

As a Christian organization, C-SASI believes that God and Faith are important to overcoming the power of addiction. The Christian tradition has time-tested resources to battle sin and suffering. The Gospels give us a clear picture of why having an authentic and covenant-based relationship is challenging yet possible and a life-giving remedy to sin and suffering.

What distinguishes our advanced training and mentorships are that they:

are built on clinical sex and porn addiction/partner trauma best practices
are founded on Christian principles and in a Christian worldview
include one-on-one and group learning opportunities
incorporate online and live educational opportunities
allow you to work with a variety of experts in the field
draw upon the latest studies, research, and modalities
cover, in depth, a variety of topics addressing addiction, trauma, and attachment disturbances (both in childhood and adulthood)

Following completion of our Core Training and supervised mentorship, all clinical, coach, clergy, pastors, lay ministers, and recovery specialist candidates can apply for C-SASI specialist certification.

After having completed our Core Training, candidates can then opt for more specialized training in working with betrayed partners and/or couples or a chosen area of specialization. Once candidates complete the specialized training, C-SASI certified candidates can then apply to become partner specialists and also apply to become C-SASI trainers.

Clinical Training

Following foundational, clinical training (completed master’s degree and state licensure):

Our clinical core training program will give clinicians all you will need to know about treating sex/porn addiction and its traumatic impact on spouses and families. Our training presupposes that you already have the necessary degrees and licensure as a clinician but that you could benefit from our expertise in the treatment of sex addiction clients and betrayed partners. Moreover, there is an opportunity to engage in a specialization relevant to the trainee's clinical practice. All of C-SASI’s training is grounded best practices and in a Christian worldview.

We’ll show you how to understand and develop an effective treatment and relapse prevention plan for addicts and a program of help, support, and healing for betrayed spouses.

We believe having a relational and spiritual component is essential for any Christian-based treatment program. We do not take a simplistic approach that focuses on only addiction basics but rather an approach that seeks the health of the whole person and his or her relationships. Healing that lasts must address the deeper roots of the addiction and help clients create lives and relationships capable of supporting continued recovery, sobriety, and personal growth.

Topics addressed include: The Basics of Sex/Porn Addiction; Addiction’s Impact on the Brain and Autonomic Nervous System; Impact of Trauma and Family of Origin Issues; Developing a Recovery Treatment/Relapse Prevention Plan for Sex Addiction; Understanding Betrayal Trauma; How Addicts Can Participate in their Partners/Family’s Healing; Improving Communication; Restoring Ruptured Relationships; Bringing Christian Spirituality & Faith into Your Sessions/Practice; Understanding and Addressing Sex in the Christian Context; Christian Response to Sexual Impropriety: A Restorative Approach; and Special Interest Topics (such as comorbidities, facilitating groups, same sex attraction, legal issues, and the Christian response to cultural/secular influences).

Certification is offered after the completion of the core training and the supervised mentorship requirement. The candidate will be registered as Certified Clinical Sex Addiction Specialist. (Those who complete further specialization will have additional the certification CCPS (Certified Clinical Partner Specialist).

Certified Coaches Training

Coaches must have or be in the process of obtaining an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Credential of ACC, PCC or MCC and hold an ICF Membership. Our certified coaches core training will help coaches to familiarize themselves with the fields of sex addiction and betrayal trauma and to be able to practice competently within those fields. Moreover, there is an opportunity to engage in a specialization relevant to the trainee's practice. All training is grounded in a Christian worldview. (Please see the description for Clinicians above as it applies to Coaches Training too).

Clergy (Pastoral) Training

No prerequisites, however:

Clergy, Pastors, Pastoral Counselors, Youth Ministers, Spiritual Directors, Missionaries, Church Administrators, etc. must show they have the degrees, experience, or training necessary to hold a pastoral/clergy or pastoral counseling position.

Our pastoral training overlaps with the Clinical/Coaches core training but when completed, along with the supervised mentorship program, pastoral candidates can apply to registered as a C-SASI Certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Specialist.

Our Core Training topics are the same as those for the Clinicians and Coaches:

For pastors the focus and scope will be uniquely suited for clergy, giving anyone serving in a pastoral role the necessary tools to address sex/pornography addiction and betrayal in individuals and families but also in the church and Christian community.

LAY MINISTER Training

No prerequisites, however:

Lay ministers must show they hold a lay ministry position or are a Certified Lay Minister, Certified Lay Servant, or Certified Lay Missioner, and are associated with a church or denomination. Must show they have had prior experience as a Lay Minister or in a Lay Ministry position. We may ask for a letter of “sponsor” from the supervising pastor, church, or denomination.

Our Core Training topics are the same as those for the Clinicians and Coaches:

The focus and scope will be uniquely suited for lay ministers, giving anyone serving in a lay ministry position the necessary tools to address sex/pornography addiction and betrayal in individuals, groups, and families but also in the church, mission field, and Christian community.

RECOVERY WORKER (Recovery Specialist) Training

No prerequisites, however:

A Recovery Worker is someone who doesn’t fit neatly into any of the above categories but is someone who has prior training and experience in working in the sex addiction and betrayal trauma field. This person isn’t necessarily associated with a church, denomination, or organization but has prior training and experience leading groups, offering workshops, or in some way formally serving in the sex addiction betrayal trauma field. Applicant must show prior training and experience.

Our Recovery Worker training overlaps with the Clinical/Coaches/Pastoral core training but when completed, along with the supervised mentorship program, pastoral candidates can apply to registered as a C-SASI Certified Sex Addiction Recovery Specialist.

Our Core Training topics are the same as those for the Clinicians, Coaches, Clergy, and Lay Minister:

For recovery workers the focus and scope will be give the necessary tools to address sex/pornography addiction and betrayal in individuals, groups, and families in the church and Christian community.
